The sunflowers we planted early in the summer put on a gorgeous show this August, I will plant them in succession next year so we can enjoy them longer. The rain beat them back, but on this sunny day, it was all smiles.

It seems July was spent milking goats then making, eating, and freezing cheeses. My four favorite recipes have been: cheve, feta, ricotta, and panir style cheese. I like them because they are relatively quick, easy, and very tasty. Check out the recipes in Goats Produce Too by Mary Jane Toth. It has been a wonderful book for making cheeses, and I hope to try some of the pressed and aged cheeses in August.

We had a sad start to June this year, we lost an old friend. This is a photo I took of him about 2 weeks before he passed away.

Gunther was in our lives and family for about 13 years, he was a big old thing, and though he has been a pasture pet for many years now, I will always remember his slow easy gait and LazyBoy like seat (when riding bareback). He was an easy keeper and as alpha horse, kept the others in line. He was a great horse, both in size and character and we'll miss him.

Welcome to the farm!

We are located in East Tennessee. We raise registered Lamancha dairy goats and this website is set up to showcase them and also share information and pictures of the other projects we're involved with. Thanks for stopping by!

Originally, we bought this property to get the horses in the backyard, then we found goats to help clear the land, then chickens moved in, and finally a couple of donkeys joined the herd.

The original goat herd has been swapped out for a few Lamanchas which supply us with entertainment, milk for drinking, making soaps, and a few cheeses.
